Tommy spent his time trying to convince Catherine that he really did love her daughter and that he was a good person (despite all the murders and rapes and other crimes). The final scenes coincided with Catherine’s last day at work and while on shift, she nipped back home. It gave us a beautiful scene in which Catherine finally forgave Clare, realising that Ryan was nothing like his dad. Upon picking Ryan up from the police station, Ryan asked Catherine to forgive her sister, Clare (Siobhan Finneran), reminding her that she had always been there and had never turned her back on her great-nephew when everyone else did. Police had found indecent images of one of his students, who he had been blackmailing, on his phone. Later we found out that Rob had been charged, but not with Joanna’s murder. Ryan saved the day again, ringing his grandma and getting her out of the house just as Tommy opened the kitchen door.īut what of the other main storyline of series three? Having found multiple unreported injuries and broken bones via Joanna’s post-mortem, the police brought her husband, Rob Hepworth (Mark Stanley), in for questioning. Petrol can in hand and suffering badly from his hillside scrap, Tommy broke in downstairs and slowly made his way into the main house. He ended up at Catherine’s house, where she had fallen asleep in the living room. Having stabbed his would-be killers and stoning the driver in the head (multiple times), Tommy barely escaped with his life. Say what you like about Tommy Lee Royce, but he’s got an instinct for danger and quickly worked out this was all a ruse to bump him off. Finally, Ryan had chosen his team - and it turned out to be the right one.Īs for Tommy, he was rudely awakened by one of Darius Knežević’s (Alex Secareanu) heavies and told he was being moved out of his safehouse, the location of which had been compromised.
